Jefferies, a US investment bank that pledged to donate the proceeds of a day’s trading gains in Asia-Pacific securities to the Australian wildfire relief effort, has raised 4m Australian dollars (£2m).
The amount consists of trading gains plus donations by clients and employees, it said, which were then matched by the bank. Clients helped to generate A$1.6m through trading commissions, and Jefferies’ employee donations totalled A$400,000.
