Jefferies raises more than $9m on Covid-19 charity trading day

The US investment bank said the money would go to more than 85 organisations around the world

US investment bank Jefferies, which pledged to donate the proceeds of a day’s global trading gains to Covid-19 relief efforts, has raised more than $9m through commissions and voluntary staff donations.

The 27 May charity day was held in honour of the bank’s late chief financial officer, Peg Broadbent, who died of complications after contracting the novel coronavirus.
