Instinet's European head of electronic trading has left and is set to become the newest face at Jefferies as the US bank strives to expand its European equities business.

Ben Springett, a former Lehman Brothers and Nomura electronic trading specialist, resigned last week and will join Jefferies as head of electronic trading sales for Europe in August, according to two people familiar with the matter.
