KKR looks to fill India's credit needs

Firm targets equity and debt investments to businesses reluctant to give up full control

With India's economy downshifting and credit hard to come by as the country's big banks struggle with bad loans, companies are scrambling for funding. For KKR co-founder Henry Kravis, that means opportunity.

"I'm actually probably more excited about India right now than I have been for a while," Kravis said Thursday. "We're hoping we can find a number of things to invest in here."
