UK shadow chancellor John McDonnell said he has no plans to nationalise the country’s banks and that the Labour party has no tricks “up its sleeves” as the self-proclaimed Marxist continues his charm offensive with the City.

McDonnell told Financial News there will be no surprises from the left wing party’s plan to reform UK finance. “We’ve got nothing up our sleeves,” he said. “There is no [hidden] side to us.”
