Legal & General posts 10% rise in profits

Legal & General, the UK insurer, has seen a 10% rise in pre-tax operating profit to £751m (€1.2bn) in 2001, a figure that was largely helped by new business gains in its life and pensions operations.

The firm saw a 32% growth in UK life and pensions, with operating profit in the division up 17% to £532m.
