Legal & General Investment Management is launching a fund aimed at promoting female empowerment in business, in the latest step by investment managers to redress the gender imbalance in the financial world.

The index-funds giant, which manages £983bn, has put together a market ranking of 350 of the UK's largest companies that do the most to promote gender diversity throughout their entire workforce.
