Managers call in the private investigators

Disgruntled investors are hiring the services of detectives to look into sub-prime crimes

Private investigators are often associated with tracking down errant husbands in sleazy bars, rummaging through waste baskets in search of evidence of corporate malfeasance or sniffing out international thieves who have evaded the capture of hapless police forces.

They are not usually thought of as people who can track down the sellers of sub-prime assets on behalf of disgruntled investors.
