The last leg of a long-running court battle between Marathon Asset Management and former employees over data theft has ended with a judge ruling in favour of the investment group, but awarding it just £2 in damages.

The legal tussle dates back to the departure of founding partner Jeremy Hosking in 2012. He staked a claim for a £10.4 million performance payment from the year he quit, but the courts ruled against him in October.
