Sir Michael Hintze’s flagship hedge fund has recovered from a bruising 2015 to book double-digit gains so far this year.

The CQS Directional Opportunities Fund returned 2.9% in May, boosting returns for the year-to-date to 14.8%, according to a person familiar with the performance. This brings annualised returns since the fund's 2005 inception to 16%.
