Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM) faces a number of legal suits for alleged investment underperformance, after J. Sainsbury, the UK supermarket chain, settled out of court for an undisclosed sum.

Co-Operative Group, a Manchester-based retailer, said it was still in discussion with its lawyers, Richards Butler, about possible action against MLIM.
