Munich Re rights success paves way for credit upgrade

Shareholders have taken up all of their rights in the €4bn ($4.6bn) offer from Munich Re allowing the German insurer to shore up its balance sheet and raise the expectation of a credit rating upgrade.

The company said in a statement that demand for new shares proved to be very high, with 99.9% of rights being exercised.
