Neil Woodford: UK stock market is ‘dying before our eyes’

Former star fund manager says UK is an ‘outlier’ compared to other countries, where pension funds have a much larger allocation to domestic companies

Former star fund manager Neil Woodford says the UK stock market is “dying in front of our eyes”, as the City continues to grapple with a dearth of IPOs and competition from rival financial centres.

Woodford, whose eponymous investment empire collapsed in 2019 after his flagship Equity Income fund was wound up, was once one of the biggest investors in some of the UK’s best-known companies.
