New SEC rules spark row over increased investor power

Unhappy shareholders in US-listed companies will be able to nominate new board members for the first time, according to new rules proposed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The SEC reforms would allow independent shareholders to nominate board members if enough investors lose confidence in a board or in a company's management team.
