New Star access tempts Artemis

Access to stronger distribution clout plus a potentially hefty takeout price are behind the decision of fund manager Artemis to enter into takeover talks with New Star, say analysts.

New Star, led by John Duffield, is tipped to pay £42m (&euro67.6m) in equity for Artemis, the Edinburgh-based firm let by Mark Tyndall, John Dodd and Jamie Campbell.
