OpenAI and rival artificial-intelligence startup Anthropic have set up offices in Zurich, betting on the Swiss city where tech giants like Alphabet’s Google, Facebook owner Meta Platforms and Microsoft have a presence to poach AI talent.

The ChatGPT maker said Wednesday that Zurich would be its fifth location in Europe after the startup opened offices in Dublin, London, Paris and Brussels over the past two years. Mark Chen, senior vice president of research at OpenAI, said the company had selected Zurich because the city had emerged as a key tech hub on the continent.
