When "Pistol" Pete Sampras won the 1990 US Open, he was 19 years old. It was his first Grand Slam tennis title and commentators predicted that it was the start of a new era. Yet Sampras had to wait another three years for his next one, at Wimbledon in 1993. From then, on it was truly the Sampras age.
Executives at JP Morgan Investor Services (JPMIS) probably sympathise with the champion. More than three years ago, Chase Global Investor Services â the forerunner of JPMIS â announced a ground-breaking outsourcing deal with Schroder Investment Management in the UK. Covering assets of more than $100bn (€85bn), Chase was to take on 200 of Schroders' staff and deliver a new investment administration platform.
