The UK government has no plans to change the independence of the Bank of England, Treasury chief Philip Hammond said on October 19.
The statement comes after Prime Minister Theresa May fuelled discussion about a possible shift in government attitude to the way monetary policy is determined during a speech at her Conservative Party's annual fall conference.
