Private equity investment will be key to hitting the government’s “number one” target of economic growth, Rachel Reeves has told a gathering of buyout bosses.

Speaking at the British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association’s conference, the chancellor said that while the government was pushing to unlock trade and enterprise, “government alone can’t get growth”.
