Regulators urge private equity investment in US banks

Henry Paulson, Treasury Secretary, and Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, both said they encourage private equity investments in US banks at Congressional hearings yesterday.

At a hearing before the House Financial Services Committee on financial market regulatory restructuring, Bernanke said: “Private equity is a very good source of capital.”
