The Royal Bank of Scotland Group has appointed Peter Sutherland and Bob Scott as two new non-executive directors from January 31.

Sutherland has been chairman and managing director of Goldman Sachs since 1995, and is also non-executive chairman of BP Amoco. He was formerly EC Commissioner responsible for competition policy, and director general of the World Trade Organisation.
