Same old story: Will the FCA’s latest move against tying change anything?

Suddenly, the crisis has given the banks the whip hand once more and they are apparently up to their old tricks

“I am shocked, shocked to find that tying is going on in the City,” Captain Renault might have said if he had been working for the Financial Conduct Authority.

In the FCA’s latest letter to bank bosses there was a hint of the police chief in Casablanca who feigns outrage at the gambling in Rick’s Café to which he has been turning a blind eye for years.
