Schroders, the UK's biggest listed fund manager, has agreed to buy a $7 billion Swiss private equity firm, Adveq, plugging a gap in its alternatives and private markets offering.

The companies announced the deal in a statement today but said financial terms for the transaction would not be disclosed. Schroders promised no change to the investment team or strategy at Adveq, which employs 110 people.
