Banks and institutions holding $531m worth of credit default swaps written against troubled buyout Seat Pagine Gialle are playing a waiting game to find out if a missed payment on its bonds will trigger a payout.

The International Swaps and Derivatives Association said last night that it has referred a decision on a payout to an independent panel after its own determinations committee failed to reach a clear decision.
