Staley scam highlights need for a rethink on email

Perhaps it's time for companies to take a closer look at encrypted messaging apps for their internal correspondence

Many will question how it was possible that Barclays chief executive Jes Staley managed to fall quite so easily for a prank email by someone pretending to be the bank’s chairman John McFarlane.

Perhaps Staley doesn’t know his chairman very well so he failed to notice the frankly laughable tone of the messages with a subject matter of “The fool doth think he is wise”.
