Sunak ‘proud to back Brexit’ as spectre of tax rises looms

Chancellor Rishi Sunak said he was “proud” to back Brexit, and has laid the path for potential future tax rises to rebuild the economy after the pandemic.

Speaking at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester, the Chancellor said that while he was warned his support for leaving the EU would cause his political career to suffer, he “put his principles first” and “always will’.
