Sustainability reports ignore link with the bottom line

Leading companies include social and environmental risks in decision-making

Multinational companies are making more detailed and higher quality disclosures about their corporate social responsibility but failing to make the link between their social and environmental impact and the financial bottom line.

A review of more than 350 social responsibility reports found just three companies that look at the balance sheet implications of potential environmental and social risks. These are Co-operative Financial Services and BP from the UK, and Novo Nordisk, a Danish healthcare group.
