Last week I spent a morning judging some truly bananas ideas for businesses. One team pitched a set of contact lenses that provided information straight to your eyeball. There was a robot to help you do spreadsheets. And a ring that would project a hologram when you pressed button.
It was part of a work experience programme for 16-17 year-olds from disadvantaged backgrounds in London put on by the EY Foundation in Canary Wharf. They had been asked to come up with mobile devices for the year 2035 and present their ideas, along with business plans, to a team of ‘dragons’.
