The EU’s Italian ballet will last a few more months yet

The Italian government remained defiant on Wednesday after the European Commission warned it was ready to slap sanctions on the country for violating the EU’s fiscal rules.

Investors seemed to take it in stride, amid growing signs that the Italian economy is beginning to suffer the consequences of the budget showdown with Brussels.
