The media has kicked off the new year with a bout of its much-loved pastime, speculating on the next cabinet reshuffle. While this is all good sport there is also a decision looming that is much more important than most cabinet jobs. Who will be the next governor of the Bank of England?
Mark Carney is due to step down in July 2019 and on past form the Treasury will be aiming to start the selection process in the summer with an announcement in the autumn.
