These are “very, very early days”, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson told the public following the news that the Pfizer and BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine has a 90% efficacy rate.
In a 9 November press conference, Johnson said that the government had ordered 40 million doses of the vaccine, which would be enough for a third of the British population. If the vaccine passes the “rigorous” safety checks, then the NHS will begin a UK-wide rollout, Johnson explained.
