Thomson creates information giant with £8.8bn Reuters deal

Thomson Financial, the data and systems vendor, today agreed a £8.8bn (€13bn) acquisition of Reuters, creating an effective duopoly with Bloomberg in the provision of information and trading terminals to financial institutions.

The deal pitches Thomson-Reuters into direct rivalry with Bloomberg, which at the moment is the dominant provider of financial information.
