May has been a busy month for the initial public offering market and an especially bountiful one for investors in newly-listed technology start-ups.

Shares of Tableau Software, a data visualisation company, debuted on May 17 and have risen 70.6% in their first week of trading on the back of booming interest in data solution providers. Similarly, stocks of Marketo, a cloud-based marketing software firm that listed on the same day, climbed 88.4% in their first week.
