Trade of the Week: Brewing profits from tea

Investors in the largest tea trading companies were buoyed this week by predictions of a roughly 10% rise in the wholesale price of the UK's national drink

Shares of tea trading companies rallied this week on the back of news that the wholesale price of the UK's national drink is expected to rise by around 10% on the back of high demand and low supply.

Chirinjiv Bedi, chairman at the Indian Tea Association, said in a statement on Monday: "The prices of good premium teas will go up by 20 rupees per kg to between 210 rupees and 220 rupees per kg."
