Once the shock of today's result passes, Wall Street financiers might hope for a friendlier relationship with a pro-business President Trump. But it is a small and tenuous hope.

Financial markets have dropped this morning thanks to uncertainty about the path ahead for the global economy. But that will be a temporary phenomenon. Trump's campaign promises to cut taxes, and his pledge to roll back on Dodd-Frank regulation, if implemented, should bring cheer in financial circles.
