UBS has been voted the best research house in Europe by fund managers for the fifth year in a row in this year's Thomson Extel research survey. It also held on to the top prize for trading and execution and for broking services to mid and small-cap companies.

Smith Barney Citigroup climbed back into second position after dropping to fourth last year.
