UK Government to offer partial compensate on Equitable

The UK government will offer compensation to those most affected by the near-collapse of Equitable Life insurance company earlier in the decade, the UK treasury said Thursday.

In a statement to parliament, chief secretary to the Treasury Yvette Cooper said the government was setting up a payments scheme and that compensation would go to "those who have been disproportionally affected."
