UK pension makes big allocation to hedge funds

The pension scheme of UK publisher Newsquest Media Group has invested 10% of its assets into hedge funds, more than five times the average of UK pension funds, which tend to still largely invest in long-only equities.

Newsquest has invested £25m (€31.62m) in the Stenham Universal fund of hedge funds, which is managed by London-based Stenham Advisors, and £15m (€18.97m) into the Multi-Strategy Fund, which is managed by Stenham's London-based peer Liongate Capital Management.
