UK to EU: Let’s agree on ‘simplest issues first’ to break Brexit deadlock

The Prime Minister’s spokesman’s comments come as the two sides meet for an emergency meeting ahead of the next round of talks

The UK’s Brexit negotiators want to agree simpler parts of its future trading relationship with the European Union to propel forward the negotiations, according to the Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s spokesman.

“The EU continues to insist that we must agree on difficult areas in the negotiations, such as EU state aid, before any further work can be done in any other area of the negotiation, including on legal texts,” the spokesman said on 1 September.
