Italian bank UniCredit has reported a 45% year-on-year jump in pre-tax profits in the third quarter of the year, as it released preliminary numbers more than two weeks early after publishing them in error.

Pre-tax profits of €926m in the three months to September 30 were up from €638m a year before. Revenues were €4.65bn, a 4% rise on the third quarter of 2016.
