The Universities Superannuation Scheme has continued with its recent hiring spree with a chief operating officer hired from the US bank's custody arm, as it seeks to continue its asset diversification programme.

A spokesman for the £34bn Universities Superannuation Scheme, which covers higher education staff in the UK, confirmed that Howard Brindle joined as operating chief for its investment office in March.
