Deutsche Börse, operator of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, has replaced four board members who stepped down following its failed attempt to take over the London Stock Exchange. One of the four, Kurt Viermetz, has also been named as a candidate for chairman.
A court in Frankfurt has on behalf of the exchange appointed Viermetz, chairman of Hypo Real Estate's supervisory board; Richard Hayden, a former Goldman Sachs banker; Friedrich Merz, a German lawyer and member of parliament; and Gerhard Roggemann, once chief executive of WestLB, as supervisory board members.
