US bank Wells Fargo has added a quartet of funds salespeople, headed by ex-Janus marketer Sylvain Agar, to boost the profile of its asset management arm in continental Europe.
Wells Fargo Asset Management, which manages $438bn but is overwhelmingly focused on the US, has a European beachhead through its ownership of the former ECM Asset Management, a UK-based credit shop that was acquired by US bank Wachovia in 2007. Wachovia was in turn absorbed into Wells Fargo in a 2008 crisis-era consolidation deal.
