Workers at Kemira Agro, part of the Finnish fertiliser and chemicals group Kemira, are striking in protest against the proposed sale of the group to Industri Kapital, a Swedish private equity firm.
A spokesman for the Finnish Chemical Workers Union said that 600 workers at Kemira Agro are participating in the one-day strike. The union is against the sale because the Agro business of agricultural chemicals production is seen as non-core to the Kemira group's business, and it has concerns about how the new owner may dispose of the unit.
