A new funding package has been approved by the UK government to boost next-generation coronavirus testing technology in a bid to increase testing capacity across the nation amid the ongoing pandemic.

The government has launched community testing in Salford with other pilots extended to Southampton and Hampshire where there are existing ongoing trials using a saliva test, Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock said today.
