With £390bn on the line, the Bank of England's payments chief says she is ready to pull the trigger on a "transformational" tech upgrade.

The central bank is on the eve of making an “absolutely crucial” upgrade to a key piece of financial infrastructure, according to executive director for payments Victoria Cleland.
