3i, the pan-European technology-focused venture capitalist, has demerged and sold Clyde Blowers, the Glasgow-based group, which it acquired in early 1999 for £40m (€63.6m).

Clyde Blowers has been split in two. The Clyde Bergemann Power division, which focuses on new technologies to produce cleaner and more efficient power from coal-fired power stations, has been sold to a new company, Global Power Solutions, for £60m.
