Gay Huey Evans has been a trailblazer for women in hedge funds. Until 2005 American-born Huey Evans, who is 53 and has British citizenship, was director of markets at the UK’s Financial Services Authority, and was considered one of the UK regulator's top brass.

She moved to Tribeca, Citigroup's hedge fund operation, the same year and was reported to have at least doubled her £200,000 (€255,466) FSA salary.
