Jérôme Kerviel, the trader who has been named as being at the heart of the Société Générale fraud, celebrated his 31st birthday exactly one week before the affair was first uncovered by bank officials.
Born on 11 of January 1977, he joined the bank in 2000, and worked for the Delta One team at SGâs head office in La Defense, Paris. He spent around three years in the bank's back office before spending the last two years on its futures desk in Paris.
