A short history of European ETFs

An ETF is an investment fund listed on a stock exchange, which tracks the performance of a particular index or basket of securities, and can be traded throughout the day like any other equity.

It is 10 years since the launch of the first exchange-traded funds in Europe. Today there are more than 1,000 ETFs available through 3,512 listings, according to data from BlackRock.
